The museum of power situated in Langford is housed in a former water pumping station, which provided clean water for residents of Southend-on-Sea, and now contains an extraordinary range of steam, electric and nuclear exhibitions. For a small fee visitors have access to the museum, riverside walks and the observation platform which provides fantastic scenic views.

Colchester Castle is located within the pleasant surrounds of Castle Park in Colchester. The castle itself is a fine example of Norman Architecture and the keep is considered the largest ever in Britain and the largest surviving in Europe. The castle is combined with a museum displaying over 2500 years of history including many important roman artefacts discovered in Britain. The castle is heritage listed and has since become one of the most important sites in Britain.
East Anglian Railway Museum

The East Anglian Railway Museum is located at Wakes Colne Railway station. The museum has a large collection of fully restored locomotives and on days of special events, steam and diesel trains operate short demonstration rides. The Beth Chatto Gardens are an ecological garden collection designed by gardener Beth Chatto in 1960. The site was a disused fruit farm, and from the gravel soil and bogs, the gardens were born. The gardens are peaceful and perfect for a stroll in the late afternoon sunshine.
